September 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM

 

Notice is hereby given that an Emergency Meeting of the Galveston County Commissioners Court is being held because there is an emergency or urgent public necessity that requires immediate action of the Galveston County Commissioners Court because of an imminent threat to public health and safety or because of a reasonably unforeseeable situation:   

 

1.)    Hurricane Harvey ’s flood water inundation of the Lower Neches Valley Authority’s Surface Water Plant, which has led to a major system failure and interruption of water supply to the Bolivar Peninsula Special Utility District; this situation is resulting in lack of water, which is anticipated to cease completely within one to two days.  The lack of water to Bolivar Peninsula which may impact fire response in conjunction with debris burning activities, and anticipated large influx of persons to Bolivar Peninsula over the Labor Day Holiday are causing fire threat, requiring immediate action of the Galveston County Commissioners Court;

 

2.)    Ability of Galveston County Employees to return to work due to displacement or sustaining damage or loss from Hurricane Harvey.
